What is the book of Ezra about?

The covenant with God was restored when the temple was rebuilt and its services restored in accordance with the law of Moses.  The Jews faced opposition at every turn.  For example, enemies of Judah “bribed officials to work against them and frustrate during the entire reign of Cyrus king of Persia and down to the reign of Darius king of Persia.” (Ezr 4:5)

Who wrote the book of Ezra?

Unknown but many sources point to Ezra the priest.

Who is the audience?

The people of Judah who have returned from exile.

Timeframe Ezra was written:

Written sometime after 440 B.C.
